BELLA SCHEIMAN Peacefully, with family by her side, Bella Scheiman passed away on November 23, 2005 at the age of 82 years. Bella will forever remain in the memory of her daughters, Shirley Kozlowich, Fae Simon (Carl Findlay), Nancy Scheiman (Neil Stern), Zahava Scheiman-Burkhardt (Klaus Scheiman-Burkhardt); her beloved grandchildren, Shane Kozlowich, Tara Kozlowich (Paul Shur), Ari Simon and Mariah Robinson. Bella was predeceased by Moishe Scheiman, her son-in-law Sam Kozlowich, and her granddaughter Orit Yona Itzhaki. Bella was born on February 12, 1923 in Sighet, Romania. After surviving the holocaust, she married in Sweden where her two eldest daughters were born. Bella immigrated to Winnipeg in 1952 and by 1959 had given birth to two more daughters. Bella was a selfless and devoted mother who nurtured and supported her family throughout her life. Bella's nurturing personality extended to her work at the Sharon Home where she cared for elderly patients with commitment and dedication for 25 years. Bella will forever be remembered as a woman who enriched the lives of those fortunate enough to have met and known her. She lived life with an open heart and an accepting spirit, always acknowledging people for who they were regardless of background, race or ethnicity. Her loving character was exemplified by her treasured cooking, her contagious laugh and her warm sense of humour. Baba Bella's life revolved around her grandchildren who were the light of her life. She will be deeply missed and will remain in our hearts forever. Our mother and baba was honoured at her funeral at Congregation Etz Chayim on Thursday, November 24 with interment at the Shaarey Zedek Cemetery. Pallbearers were Shane Kozlowich, Ari Simon, Neil Stern, Paul Shur, Raymond Offman and Len Goldenstein. A special thank you to Dr. Pat Harris and the 5th floor nurses and health care workers at the Grace Hospital. Their compassion and support was greatly appreciated at this most difficult time. Donations may be made in Bella's memory to a charity of one's choice.
